President Emomali Rahmon Appoints New Judiciary and Prosecutor’s Office Officials

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President Emomali Rahmon has appointed new personnel to the judiciary and prosecutor’s office in various cities and districts across Tajikistan, including new heads of key departments in the Prosecutor-General’s Office, according to the presidential press service.

By presidential decrees, new chairpersons of courts in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), along with judges and court leaders in GBAO, Khatlon, Sughd provinces, Dushanbe, and districts under central authority, have been appointed.

Key Prosecutorial Appointments

With the President’s approval, the following prosecutors were appointed:

  • Prosecutor of Nurek city in Khatlon province
  • Prosecutor of Ayni district in Sughd province
  • Prosecutor of Ismoili Somoni district in Dushanbe
  • Prosecutor for supervising law implementation in correctional institutions at the Prosecutor-General’s Office
  • Prosecutor for supervising law implementation in correctional institutions in Khatlon province

Additionally, new heads of various departments and divisions within the Prosecutor-General’s Office were appointed.

Focus on Youth and Gender Representation

The new appointees include a significant number of young professionals, with 65 individuals being promoted from trainee judges to judicial positions for the first time. Women have also been appointed to key judicial roles, reflecting efforts to ensure gender representation in the judiciary.

Judicial and Legal Reforms

During a meeting with the newly appointed officials, President Rahmon discussed:

  • The development of judicial bodies
  • Implementation of the judicial and legal reform program
  • Legislative improvements in the judicial sector
  • Enhancement of the social conditions of judiciary employees

The President stressed the importance of judicial integrity, urging officials to ensure fair trials, uphold the rule of law, and adhere to case review deadlines.

Anti-Corruption and Professional Development Measures

To combat corruption, officials were instructed to:

  • Ensure proper personnel placements
  • Focus on professional training and qualification improvements
  • Take strong measures against corrupt practices

Additionally, court and prosecution employees have been given two years to study foreign languages, including Russian and English, as part of their professional development.

This series of appointments and reforms aims to strengthen Tajikistan’s legal system, promote judicial efficiency, and uphold the rule of law in the country.
