Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has highlighted the liberation of Azerbaijani territories during the 44-day Patriotic War in his address at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Referring to Armenia’s military provocations in July and August 2020, which resulted in the deaths of Azerbaijani servicemen, President Aliyev said that the Azerbaijani people’s patience had run out and the time for accountability had come.

The Azerbaijani president recalled that the Patriotic War lasted 44 days, during which Azerbaijani forces liberated more than 300 cities and villages from Armenian occupation on the battlefield.

He further stated that Armenia signed an act of capitulation on November 10, 2020, marking a significant turning point in the conflict.

President Aliyev’s remarks underscored the importance of the 2020 war in Azerbaijan’s history and the restoration of its control over territories that had remained under Armenian occupation.
