President Ilham Aliyev Welcomes Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for Discussions on Bilateral Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on February 19.
During the meeting, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani conveyed the greetings of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the Azerbaijani head of state. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude and requested that his regards be extended to the Pakistani leadership.
The Chairman of the Senate congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful hosting of COP29 in Baku, a gesture President Ilham Aliyev warmly acknowledged, recalling the participation of Pakistan’s Prime Minister in the event and appreciating Pakistan’s continued support.
The discussions covered prospects for enhancing Azerbaijan-Pakistan cooperation in various fields, including economic, trade, and energy sectors, while also underscoring the successful implementation of military collaboration. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support within international organizations and emphasized the importance of strengthening interparliamentary ties and the role of the intergovernmental commission in advancing bilateral relations.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Pakistan trilateral cooperation format, with both parties stressing the significance of trilateral meetings in fostering regional partnership and strategic coordination.
As a token of goodwill, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani presented a keepsake to President Ilham Aliyev.
