President Jokowi calls for cessation of war at G20 Summit 3rd session

Nusa Dua, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) twice called for the cessation of war while addressing the country and international organization leaders during the third session of the G20 Summit here, on Wednesday.

“Your Excellencies, I hereby reopen our meeting. To open this third session, allow me to reiterate the message I have conveyed during the summit opening yesterday. Stop the war. I repeat, stop the war,” he stated at the forum.

The Indonesian president drew attention to several sacrifices made during a war while emphasizing that it would only make the people suffer.

Widodo noted that global economic recovery will be challenged if the situation does not de-escalate.

“As leaders, we all have responsibilities to ensure that the global situation is conducive for the world’s future,” he stated.

As earlier reported, at the opening session of the G20 Summit on Tuesday (November 15), the head of state reaffirmed that all parties have a responsibility to stop the war.

The president noted that if the war does not cease, it would be difficult for the global community to progress forward.

“Let us not divide the world into pieces. Let us not allow the world to fall back into another cold war,” he stated.
