President Lương Cường Praises Strengthened Ties During Visit of Palestinian Special Envoy

Hanoi, December 27, 2024 – The Europe Today: State President Lương Cường has commended the ongoing visit of Professor Riad Malki, Special Envoy of the Palestinian President, to Vietnam, highlighting its role in enhancing the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

During a reception held in Hanoi on Thursday, President Cường reflected on the historical bond between Vietnam and Palestine, nurtured through shared struggles for national independence and liberation, and sustained by generations of leaders and people from both countries.

He reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent support for the Palestinian people’s rightful struggle for national independence and its strong endorsement of the two-state solution. This includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian State coexisting peacefully with the State of Israel, in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.

The president reiterated Vietnam’s call for an immediate ceasefire, the cessation of hostilities, respect for international humanitarian law, protection of civilians, and the provision of increased emergency humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people.

President Cường expressed Vietnam’s readiness to cooperate with Palestine and the global community to support humanitarian aid and mediation efforts aimed at achieving a durable and fair peace in the Middle East.

Special Envoy Malki conveyed a letter from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, emphasizing a desire to further strengthen bilateral relations with Vietnam. He expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s unwavering support for Palestine and lauded the country’s remarkable success in national development, considering it a model for others.

Both sides agreed to bolster collaboration in promising areas, maintain mutual support at international forums, and enhance bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including political consultations between their foreign ministries. They also emphasized the importance of exchanges between friendship and solidarity associations to foster unity and understanding between their peoples.

Envoy Malki pledged to work closely with Vietnam to implement commitments and strengthen bilateral solidarity and cooperation, fulfilling the aspirations of leaders and people from both nations.
