President Mirziyoyev and PM of Malaysia Discuss Multifaceted Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim. The discussion centered on enhancing multifaceted cooperation between the two nations, building on the agreements made during Prime Minister Ibrahim’s visit to Uzbekistan in May this year.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the increasing interparliamentary, intergovernmental, and business contacts. A notable milestone was the first meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which took place on 29 May in Putrajaya. This meeting has paved the way for the establishment of the Uzbekistan-Malaysia Business Council, aimed at fostering deeper economic ties.

The conversation highlighted the importance of promoting cooperation projects across various sectors, including industry, green energy, petrochemicals, and electrical engineering. Both leaders emphasized the need to advance joint programs in these areas, which are crucial for the sustainable development of both nations.

Additionally, measures to implement joint programs for humanitarian exchange and pilgrimage tourism were discussed. These initiatives are expected to enhance cultural ties and mutual understanding between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

The dialogue also covered current international and regional issues, as well as the schedule of upcoming high-level events. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together to address common challenges and seize new opportunities for cooperation.
