President Mirziyoyev Unveils Ambitious Plans for Educational Reform

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan presided over a presentation detailing comprehensive strategies aimed at enhancing and modernizing the nation’s educational system, with a specific focus on improving the quality of school education.

In alignment with the vision outlined in the “Uzbekistan – 2030″ Strategy, educational reforms stand at the forefront of national development priorities. These reforms extend beyond general education institutions to encompass specialized educational establishments, including 14 Presidential schools, 9 creative schools, and 182 specialized schools across the country.

Among the key initiatives unveiled is the proposal to pilot engineering programs at the specialized school named after Mirzo Ulugbek, in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich. This pioneering initiative seeks to integrate engineering education with the broader academic curriculum, facilitating a seamless transition for students into higher education.

To leverage the expertise of highly qualified educators, the establishment of public “academic councils” under the Agency of Presidential Educational Institutions was announced. These councils will play a pivotal role in curriculum development, assessment enhancement, and professional development initiatives for teachers.

Plans were also outlined for the introduction of English-medium instruction in 14 schools from the upcoming academic year, alongside the construction of eight new specialized schools slated for 2025-2026.

Creative schools are set to undergo transformation through the organization of masterclasses with renowned artists and public figures, fostering an environment conducive to nurturing artistic talent. Furthermore, initiatives such as student creative works publication and talent competitions aim to provide platforms for showcasing and supporting artistic endeavors among the youth.

Recognizing the pivotal role of subject Olympiads in elevating educational standards, a Center for preparing students for such competitions will be established. This initiative will engage leading scholars and international experts, offering tailored training programs to enhance students’ competencies in various subject domains.

Efforts to standardize knowledge assessment through uniform test materials and transparent evaluation mechanisms underscore the commitment to fostering academic excellence and equity across educational institutions.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to elevate the general secondary education system to align seamlessly with higher education standards, underscoring the imperative of coherence and continuity within the educational continuum.

Cultural promotion emerged as a central theme, with proposals to infuse artistic appreciation within the curriculum, expand cultural outreach initiatives, and foster collaborations between educational and cultural institutions to preserve and transmit Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage to future generations.

As Uzbekistan embarks on this ambitious journey of educational reform, President Mirziyoyev’s directives underscore a steadfast commitment to nurturing a knowledge-driven society and fostering cultural vibrancy across all facets of national life.
