Uzbekistan and Qatar Forge Air Connectivity Agreement, Direct Flights Set to Begin
Doha, The Gulf Observer: In a significant development fostering closer ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar, Ambassador Ashraf Khojayev of Uzbekistan convened a meeting with Badr Muhammad Al-Miyr, the chief executive officer of Qatar Airways, as reported by Uzbek media.
The dialogue, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector, saw discussions on key matters such as the establishment of interstate direct flights, facilitation of cargo transportation, and the exchange of expertise in modern air services.
Expressing optimism about the rapidly developing friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar, Badr Muhammad Al-Miyr underscored the importance of establishing air routes connecting the two nations to further strengthen these ties. He outlined ambitious plans for the initial launch of flights four times a week, with the intention to increase frequency to daily services in the future.
Highlighting the anticipated benefits of direct flights, both parties emphasized the expected increase in mutual tourism flow and bilateral trade volume, facilitated by improved air connectivity.
Concluding the fruitful meeting, the parties reached an agreement to mark the commencement of the Doha-Tashkent-Doha flight with an opening ceremony scheduled for June 2 of this year. This milestone event marks a significant step forward in enhancing connectivity and fostering closer relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
The agreement signifies a mutual commitment to deepening cooperation and promoting greater people-to-people exchanges and economic collaboration between the two nations. As direct flights commence, it is anticipated that they will contribute to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
