President of Turkmenistan Attends Opening of International Climate Forum in Samarkand

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in the opening ceremony of the high-level international forum “Central Asia Facing Global Climate Issues: Consolidation for Shared Prosperity” held on Friday at the Congress Center of the Silk Road Samarkand complex.

According to official Turkmen media, the two-day forum marks a significant milestone on the global environmental agenda, bringing together a wide array of stakeholders to address pressing climate challenges facing the Central Asian region and beyond.

The event was attended by Presidents of Central Asian nations, senior leaders from the European Union, government officials, international experts, and representatives of major international organizations and financial institutions. Discussions focused on advancing coordinated regional strategies to combat climate change and promoting sustainable development through regional and global cooperation.

In addition to the forum, President Berdimuhamedov took part in the first Central Asia–European Union Summit, which was held on the sidelines of the climate event. The summit underscored the growing partnership between Central Asia and the EU in areas such as green energy, water management, and climate resilience.

President Berdimuhamedov’s participation reflects Turkmenistan’s firm commitment to international cooperation in addressing climate-related issues and its active role in shaping a sustainable future for the region.
