Azerbaijan Signs Agreements on Three Major Solar Projects During Green Energy Ministerial Meetings in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed key investment and implementation agreements for three new solar energy projects as part of the 11th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting held in Baku.
The agreements mark a significant step forward in Azerbaijan’s transition to green energy and support the development of a sustainable energy sector.
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Eldar Mammadzade, CEO of Enerso Jabrayil LLC, signed an Investment Agreement for the “Ufuq” Solar PV Project, which will have a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) and will be developed in Azerbaijan.
In a separate signing, Minister Shahbazov and Khayala Nagiyeva, CEO of Clean Energy Jabrayil LLC, concluded an Investment Agreement for the “Shams” Solar PV Project, also with a 50 MW capacity.
Additionally, Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov and Vugar Samadli, CEO of Nobel Energy Limited, signed an Implementation Agreement for the Assessment, Development, and Implementation of a 30 MW Solar Power Plant in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic between the Ministry of Energy and Nobel Energy Limited.
These solar initiatives are integral to the development of Azerbaijan’s green energy zone. Once operational, the three projects are expected to collectively produce 268 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. This output will help save 59 million cubic meters of natural gas and reduce carbon emissions by 128,000 tons per year, significantly contributing to Azerbaijan’s environmental sustainability goals.
The agreements reflect Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to diversifying its energy mix, enhancing energy security, and contributing to global efforts to combat climate change through green energy development.
