President of Turkmenistan Meets with Head of Tatarstan to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, as reported by the Turkmen television news program “Vatan.”

Expressing deep gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss pressing issues of traditional cooperation in a personal conversation, Rustam Minnikhanov conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, who extended sincere wishes of happiness, well-being, and prosperity to the leadership and people of Turkmenistan.

Welcoming the distinguished guest to Turkmen soil, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked him for his kind words and reciprocated best wishes to the Russian President and the people of the friendly nation.

During the discussions, both leaders exchanged views on the current state and future priorities of their bilateral partnership, emphasizing mutual interests. President Berdimuhamedov reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to enhancing relations with the Republic of Tatarstan, noting that regular high-level meetings are crucial for maintaining systemic and effective cooperation.

The Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan for his participation in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fragi, held in October last year.

Both parties acknowledged the long-standing friendship between the Turkmen and Tatar peoples, rooted in shared cultural, linguistic, and religious ties, as well as mutual respect and equality. Rustam Minnikhanov particularly commended the Turkmen people’s dedication to preserving their national traditions and unique culture, expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to visit Turkmenistan once again.

Another key aspect of Turkmen-Tatar cooperation discussed was collaboration in the humanitarian sphere, including education, culture, and the arts. President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to deepening multifaceted cooperation with fraternal Tatarstan within the framework of its strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.

The Turkmen leader also highlighted that Turkmenistan had declared 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” an initiative endorsed by a UN General Assembly resolution. In this regard, a representative forum will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. Inviting Rustam Minnikhanov to participate in the event, President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence in its significant contribution to the success of this major international initiative.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Rustam Minnikhanov exchanged best wishes for good health, further success in their work, and continued peace, well-being, and prosperity for the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
