President of Uzbekistan Stresses Importance of Deepening Collaboration with Turkmenistan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On April 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Meredov’s visit to Uzbekistan was part of the agenda for the Second Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the “Central Asia – Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf” Strategic Dialogue.

At the outset of their meeting, Meredov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan to President Mirziyoyev. The discussion centered on fostering and deepening the robust strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, focusing on various avenues for cooperation.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the growth in mutual trade turnover and highlighted the establishment of the Shavat-Dashoguz trade zone as a significant milestone. They underscored the ongoing cooperation in industrial collaboration, energy, transportation, logistics, and agriculture, emphasizing the mutually beneficial nature of these partnerships. Additionally, they noted the importance of enhancing interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchanges, particularly in light of the upcoming events in Uzbekistan commemorating the 300th anniversary of the poet Magtymguly Fragi’s birth.

The leaders also dedicated attention to shaping a new agenda for comprehensive partnership in preparation for upcoming summit meetings. They exchanged views on current regional and international issues of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to collaboration and cooperation in addressing shared challenges and advancing common goals.

The meeting between President Mirziyoyev and Minister Meredov signifies the enduring friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, setting the stage for further cooperation and collaboration in various spheres for the mutual benefit of both nations and the wider region.
