President Pezeshkian Departs for UNGA, Aims to Represent Iranian People’s Voice

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: On Sunday, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian departed from Mehrabad International Airport for New York, where he will participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Before his departure, President Pezeshkian expressed his hope to represent the voice of the Iranian people on the global stage.
Addressing the media, Pezeshkian criticized the United Nations’ handling of the Israeli regime’s actions, emphasizing the importance of the UN as a global institution. “If the UN fulfills its duties properly, no country can justify bombarding others under false pretexts,” he remarked.
Pezeshkian also expressed his intent to meet with the Iranian diaspora and the international media during his visit. He plans to discuss key issues, including peace, security, economic development, production, investment, and tourism, while outlining Tehran’s stance on various global matters.
President Pezeshkian is scheduled to deliver a speech at the UNGA session on September 24, where he will articulate the views and positions of the Islamic Republic on pressing international issues. His itinerary also includes several high-level meetings, notably with Iranian expatriates residing in the United States.
In addition to bilateral discussions with leaders from Europe, Asia, and Islamic nations, Pezeshkian will engage with representatives of various religious communities, media figures, and think tanks. The Iranian president is also expected to participate in the Summit of the Future, a key event aimed at forging international consensus on strategies to improve the present and protect the future.
