President Pezeshkian Reflects on Diplomatic Achievements During New York Visit

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described his recent visit to New York as highly productive, highlighting key discussions with global leaders on pressing regional issues. Speaking upon his return at Tehran International Mehrabad Airport on Thursday evening, President Pezeshkian emphasized the urgency of addressing the crises in Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon.

“We had fruitful discussions with the heads of various countries and shared our concerns regarding the situations in Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon,” Pezeshkian remarked. “It was agreed that future meetings with Islamic countries will take place to issue joint statements and protests, as well as to make critical decisions in response to these challenges.”

During the trip, President Pezeshkian also engaged in talks with the President of the European Council and leaders from European nations. He conveyed his disappointment with the international community’s response to the humanitarian crisis, stating, “While they condemned Israel’s crimes, they insisted that the U.S. must play a role in resolving the situation, with some harsh criticisms directed at Netanyahu, who, frankly, cannot be regarded as a human being.”

The Iranian leader voiced concerns that, despite widespread expressions of sympathy, tangible solutions remain elusive. “We raised these issues at the United Nations, but sympathy alone does not resolve the problem. In many countries, even a minor incident triggers outcry over human rights violations, yet when it comes to Israel’s crimes and the deaths of hundreds, the international community remains silent or offers justification.”

President Pezeshkian also addressed the status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), indicating that the issue would now be pursued at the foreign ministers’ level. “We had discussions regarding the JCPOA with European countries. We emphasized that it was not Iran that abandoned the agreement, but rather the Trump administration that tore it up. They acknowledged this fact, and we are committed to continuing dialogue to address the sanctions and complications imposed on our country.”

The President’s diplomatic efforts in New York underscore Iran’s determination to seek both regional and global solutions to ongoing conflicts and sanctions, signaling a renewed focus on cooperation through international dialogue.
