Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are set to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Monday, March 31.

The Vice Presidential Secretariat announced on Sunday that Prabowo and Gibran will be joined by several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

Following the prayer, the president and vice president will proceed to the Merdeka Palace for an Eid al-Fitr gathering, scheduled to commence at around 9 a.m. local time. According to his secretariat, VP Gibran has no plans to host a separate gathering at his palace or private residence.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, provided further details, stating that President Prabowo has invited former presidents and vice presidents to the Merdeka Palace. Additionally, the gathering will welcome state officials, ambassadors, representatives from international organizations, religious figures, and community leaders.

“This event serves as a national friendly gathering, intended to build a sense of togetherness while celebrating the day of victory,” Permana remarked.

These plans align with the official Eid al-Fitr date announcement by Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar on Saturday, March 29. Umar, who also serves as the grand imam of Istiqlal Mosque, stated that the government has decided to round the number of Ramadan days to 30, based on the observation of the crescent moon across Indonesia. Consequently, Ramadan 2025 will conclude on Sunday, with Eid al-Fitr marking the beginning of the Syawwal month on Monday.
