President Prabowo Invites King Charles III to Visit Indonesia Again
London, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto has extended an invitation to King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to visit Indonesia once more. “He (the King) has embarked on two visits to Indonesia, and I invited him to come again,” President Prabowo said during a press statement on Thursday, broadcast via the Presidential YouTube channel on Friday.
The invitation was conveyed during a bilateral meeting in London on Thursday, as part of President Prabowo’s state visit to the United Kingdom. The two leaders discussed various issues of mutual interest, including environmental preservation.
King Charles III, as Prince of Wales, visited Indonesia twice before. His first visit, in 1989, was alongside his then-wife, the late Princess Diana. His second visit, in 2008, spanned a week and included discussions on environmental and humanitarian issues.
During his 2008 visit, King Charles III participated in a dialogue with Islamic religious leaders at Istiqlal Mosque, Southeast Asia’s largest mosque, in Central Jakarta. He also paid a courtesy call on Indonesia’s sixth president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), at Merdeka Palace, where he delivered a lecture to the Cabinet. Additionally, the King visited Jambi province to review the Forest of Hope Project, emphasizing climate change and global warming, and toured Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple, in Central Java.
President Prabowo’s London itinerary also included meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, reflecting Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the United Kingdom.
