President Prabowo Visits Qatar to Convey Indonesia’s Support Following Israeli Airstrike

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto traveled to Doha, Qatar, on Friday to personally convey Jakarta’s support to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the wake of Israel’s recent airstrike on a residential area in the Qatari capital.
Speaking from Jakarta, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that President Prabowo held an immediate meeting with Emir Al Thani upon his arrival in Doha.
“Today, President Prabowo flew to Doha to meet with the emir on Friday afternoon local time. He decided to make the visit promptly in response to Israel’s attack on Doha on Tuesday, September 9,” Wijaya stated.
Wijaya underscored that the visit was a direct expression of Indonesia’s solidarity with the Qatari government and people amid escalating regional tensions.
Journalists reported that the presidential aircraft departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Friday morning. Upon arrival in Doha, President Prabowo was formally received by Emir Al Thani.
The Israeli military reportedly launched unilateral airstrikes on a residential area in Doha, claiming the operation targeted senior members of the Palestinian organization Hamas who were attending ceasefire negotiations mediated by the United States and Egypt.
According to reports, 15 fighter jets were deployed and 10 bombs were dropped during the attack, resulting in the deaths of five Hamas delegates and one Qatari security officer. A funeral service for the victims was held on Thursday, September 11, with Emir Al Thani joining prayers alongside the families of the deceased.
In response, Qatar vowed that Israel would face a collective reaction from its regional partners.
“We are currently discussing a response with our partners in the region,” Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated on Wednesday, September 10.
