President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Receives Senior U.S. Officials to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on January 23, 2026, received U.S. Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll and the Special Envoy of the President of the United States for South and Central Asia, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of India Sergio Gor, who arrived in the country on an official visit.
Thanking the Head of State for the time devoted to the meeting, the U.S. officials expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to discuss issues related to the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States.
Welcoming the guests, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to deepening mutually beneficial relations with the United States across various fields.
The President recalled his visit to Washington in November last year to participate in the “Central Asia–United States of America” summit, as well as his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump held on the sidelines of the event. It was noted that this format has become an effective platform for discussing cooperation in the areas of security, economy, climate, and energy.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan–U.S. relations, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and mutual understanding, encompass political and diplomatic engagement, trade and economic cooperation, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The interlocutors particularly highlighted the active political dialogue between the two countries in recent years, which has enabled an effective exchange of views on global issues such as sustainable development, security, and climate change.
Trade and economic cooperation was identified as one of the key areas of partnership. It was noted that Turkmenistan has for many years effectively cooperated with leading American companies in the implementation of important projects. In this regard, the significant role of the Turkmen-American Business Council in promoting bilateral economic ties was underscored.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, U.S. Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, and Ambassador Sergio Gor exchanged best wishes, expressing confidence that interstate relations based on mutual understanding and trust will continue to develop for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
