President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Visits National Pavilion at COP29 in Baku
Baku, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan reviewed the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan, inaugurated at the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku. The pavilion, showcasing Uzbekistan’s commitment to sustainability and climate resilience, is organized under the theme “Sustainability Inside.”
During the visit, President Mirziyoyev was briefed on the pavilion’s concept, designed to blend Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage with modern sustainable practices. The architectural concept, inspired by the traditional Uzbek Hovli or courtyard, symbolizes harmony between humanity, nature, and family values. Constructed using eco-friendly materials such as adobe plaster and wood, the pavilion incorporates elements familiar to Uzbek homes, like terraces and tapchans, to create a comfortable, naturally cooled environment that aligns with sustainable living principles.
Over 20 side events will take place at the pavilion, focusing on critical issues, including addressing socio-ecological challenges in the Aral Sea region, promoting a green economy, advancing renewable energy and water-saving technologies, ensuring food security, and safeguarding biodiversity. These events aim to foster global collaboration on climate resilience while highlighting Uzbekistan’s role in environmental preservation and sustainable development.
