President Tokayev Holds Strategic Talks with Macron

Paris, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held comprehensive negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron, marking a new milestone in the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and France, according to the Akorda press service.

During the extended-format meeting, President Tokayev expressed his deep appreciation for the warm reception extended to Kazakhstan’s delegation. “I attach utmost importance to my visit, marking a new milestone in the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and France,” he stated. “I am convinced that today’s talks, along with the adoption of a joint statement, will elevate our relationship to an enhanced strategic partnership.” Tokayev also extended his congratulations to France on the successful hosting of the 33rd Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, commending the events’ impressive scale and execution, and expressed confidence in France’s preparations for the 36th Winter Olympic Games in 2030.

Reflecting on President Macron’s visit to Astana last year, Tokayev noted that previous agreements have significantly deepened bilateral relations. Kazakhstan and France maintain an active, trust-based political dialogue and work closely on international platforms to promote peace and sustainable development. Tokayev highlighted France as a major trade partner and leading investor, with over 200 French companies operating in Kazakhstan. “We are grateful to French business leaders for their commitment to Kazakhstan and productive cooperation,” he said.

Tokayev also emphasized the growing cultural and humanitarian exchange between the two countries, particularly in education, science, medicine, and history. He expressed appreciation for the national exhibition of Kazakhstan hosted at the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts in Paris.

President Macron, in turn, acknowledged the importance of the discussions and their role in further strengthening Kazakh-French relations. “Thanks to you, the partnership between our countries has been significantly strengthened in recent years,” Macron stated.

The talks covered a wide range of cooperation areas, including mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, agriculture, energy, industrial development, climate action, digital transformation, and healthcare. Both leaders also discussed regional and international issues of shared interest, underscoring a shared commitment to peace and prosperity.

President Tokayev’s visit to France began on November 4 with an official welcoming ceremony by President Macron, highlighting the significance of this state visit in reinforcing the Kazakhstan-France partnership.
