President Tokayev, Swiss Vice President Parmelin Hold Talks to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Friday held talks with visiting Swiss Vice President Guy Parmelin, opening new avenues to strengthen the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Switzerland, Akorda reported.

President Tokayev emphasized that Parmelin’s visit presents an important opportunity to give fresh momentum to the bilateral agenda. He described Switzerland as a key political and economic partner in Europe and one of Kazakhstan’s leading foreign investors, noting that Swiss investments in the Kazakh economy have reached USD 35.8 billion since 2005.

The President highlighted that nearly 400 Swiss companies and joint enterprises are currently operating in Kazakhstan, reflecting the depth of economic cooperation between the two nations. Tokayev added that political dialogue between Astana and Bern continues to develop across various levels in an open and constructive manner.

Underscoring the strong economic ties, Tokayev said Kazakhstan and Switzerland maintain effective collaboration in a wide range of sectors, including energy, mining, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, finance, and new technologies.

For his part, Vice President Parmelin expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the dynamic progress of bilateral cooperation. He reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to fostering continuous political dialogue, expanding investment initiatives, and supporting joint projects across key economic sectors.

Both sides reiterated their readiness to further deepen the partnership and explore new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
