President Xi Jinping meets with Lebanese PM in Riyadh
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Xi pointed out that China and Lebanon share a long history of friendship and have always supported each other. Noting that the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year, Xi said China is willing to work with the Lebanese side to deepen the China-Lebanon friendship and cooperation.
Xi said that China firmly supports Lebanon in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as in maintaining national security and stability. He also stressed that China will continue to carry out its peacekeeping mission and contribute to maintaining peace in Lebanon.
Xi also mentioned that China is willing to work with Lebanon to further strengthen cooperation between China and Arab states in various fields and build a China-Arab community with a shared future.
Mikati thanked China for its help in maintaining peace and security in Lebanon and said Lebanon firmly supports the one-China principle. Mikati also expressed a desire to cooperate with China in the fields like solar energy and electricity, and welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Lebanon.
