Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia Discuss Strengthening Strategic Partnership
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: In a telephone conversation held on December 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan and President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation engaged in discussions on advancing and fortifying the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between their countries.
The leaders delved into the practical implementation of the agreements made during the state visit of President Putin to Uzbekistan in May 2024. These discussions were guided by the roadmap approved by both leaders, ensuring effective follow-up on the key issues addressed.
Both leaders praised the successful outcomes of the recent meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and bilateral talks held the previous day in Moscow. They highlighted the importance of continued efforts to increase mutual trade turnover, accelerate cooperation in industries such as energy, transport, agriculture, and other key sectors, as well as foster regional and business-to-business exchanges between Uzbekistan and Russia.
The conversation also underscored the growing collaboration in innovation, artificial intelligence, education, and medicine. Acknowledging the success of the Uzbek Culture Days held in Russia in November, both presidents expressed their satisfaction with the strengthening cultural ties.
In addition, the leaders exchanged views on pressing international issues and the role of multilateral cooperation in regional organizations. The discussions set the stage for high-level meetings scheduled for the end of December, aimed at further enhancing bilateral relations and advancing shared priorities.
