Prime Minister Chính Highlights Importance of Digital Transformation
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính emphasized the critical importance of developing resident data, electronic identification, and authentication for national digital transformation during a hybrid conference reviewing the implementation of Project 06. The event, held in Hà Nội, underscored the need for heightened awareness among individuals and businesses about the benefits of digital transformation.
Addressing the conference, PM Chính, who also serves as the head of the National Committee for Digital Transformation, identified awareness as a decisive factor for the project’s success. He called for varied and robust communication activities through the media to ensure widespread understanding and engagement.
Project 06: A National Priority
Project 06 focuses on the application of population data, electronic identification, and authentication for the period 2022-2025, with a vision extending to 2030. The Prime Minister noted that digital transformation is an objective necessity and an inevitable global trend in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He stressed that digital transformation has become integral to the daily lives of individuals and families.
PM Chính reiterated Việt Nam’s strategic commitment to digital transformation, viewing it as essential for rapid and sustainable development. He urged ministries, agencies, localities, and society at large to collaborate in driving socio-economic progress through digital transformation, science, technology, innovation, and startups.
Hà Nội and HCM City: Pioneers in Digital Transformation
Highlighting Project 06 as a key task of national digital transformation over the past two years, PM Chính pointed out the pilot implementations in Hà Nội and Ho Chi Minh City. He praised the efforts of Hà Nội’s Party Committee, People’s Committee, and various departments and agencies for their concerted actions and positive outcomes.
The Prime Minister called on Hà Nội to lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and national digital transformation. He urged the city to spearhead the development of the green economy, circular economy, digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens, aiming for a civilized and modern society.
Strategic Directives for Hà Nội
PM Chính outlined major tasks for Hà Nội under Project 06 for the year ahead. These include strengthening technology infrastructure, promoting digitalization, and enhancing data sharing to build a digital government, economy, society, and citizenship. He emphasized goals such as facilitating access to services for people and businesses, reducing costs, controlling risks, combating misconduct, developing digital infrastructure and platforms, and ensuring cybersecurity and personal data protection.
To achieve these targets, the Prime Minister urged Hà Nội to refine its mechanisms and policies, improve the investment environment and competitiveness, streamline administrative procedures, and enhance the integration, connection, and sharing of digitalization outcomes.
He also suggested expanding the services available on the e-identification app VNeID, promoting cashless payments, and advancing digital transformation in the tax sector.
Launch of New Digital Platforms
During the conference, Hà Nội announced several new platforms and applications to support Project 06. These include iHanoi, Electric Health Record (EHR), Personal Health Record (PHR), and eCabinet, marking significant strides in the city’s digital transformation efforts.
