Prime Minister Chính Presents Three Strategic Assurances for Inclusive Global Growth at G20 Summit

Johannesburg, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính delivered a significant address at the opening ceremony of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday, outlining three strategic assurances aimed at promoting inclusive, sustainable global growth and ensuring that no nation or community is left behind.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister began by emphasising the need to ensure stability as the foundation of development in international relations, global politics, and the world’s macro-economic environment. He called on the G20 to lead efforts in establishing cooperation mechanisms based on mutual respect, peaceful conflict resolution, and the creation of a conducive global environment for development. PM Chính proposed that the G20 coordinate policies to prevent systemic risks, respond effectively to emerging crises, limit trade barriers, reduce supply-chain fragmentation, and advance debt-conversion initiatives to safeguard global economic stability.
Highlighting the importance of an equitable international economic environment, the Prime Minister’s second assurance focused on strengthening a rules-based multilateral trading system centred on the World Trade Organization (WTO). He underscored the need for a balanced, transparent and open global financial architecture that ensures equal access to science, technology and development finance. PM Chính urged the G20 to avoid politicising science and trade, enhance cooperation, support developing countries through fair trade practices, bolster digital-transition capacity, and accelerate comprehensive WTO reforms to improve its operational effectiveness.
In his third strategic assurance, the Prime Minister called for building flexible and effective global governance capable of fostering an enabling ecosystem for development in an era defined by digital transformation and green transition. He stressed the need for deeper dialogue within the G20 and multilateral institutions to shape governance frameworks that harmonise economic, social and environmental objectives while balancing present and future development imperatives. He urged expanded cooperation in key areas including artificial intelligence, climate change mitigation, disaster prevention and public health.
PM Chính noted that the world is experiencing unprecedented and profound shifts with far-reaching human-centred implications. In this evolving context, he stressed that global governance must prioritise peace, stability and inclusive, comprehensive development. He emphasised that equality, mutual benefit, adherence to international law, solidarity and dialogue are essential principles to generate shared strength, deliver tangible outcomes and build global trust.
He further underlined that all development efforts must remain people-centred, comprehensive and global in approach, with humanity placed firmly at their core.
Reaffirming Việt Nam’s commitment, Prime Minister Chính stated that the country stands ready to cooperate actively, equally and for mutual benefit with all nations, the G20 and the wider international community, for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world where development is inclusive and no one is left behind.
His comprehensive and forward-looking remarks were widely welcomed and appreciated by participating countries at the summit.
