Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Participates in Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Meeting

Yerevan, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan attended the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan, where he engaged in discussions on the digital agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) alongside the heads of government from member states. The discussions took place during the III Eurasian Economic Forum, themed “Digitalization in Modern Realities – an Imperative to Ensure the Four Freedoms,” as reported by NHC.

The plenary session, which brought together key leaders including the Prime Ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and the First Vice President of Iran, centered on the future of digitalizing economic processes within the EAEU. Participants explored how modern digital initiatives could help facilitate the union’s objectives of ensuring the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor among its member states.

In his address, Prime Minister Bektenov highlighted the strategic importance that Kazakhstan places on digital transformation within the EAEU. He emphasized that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev remains committed to advancing digitalization efforts as a key driver of regional integration. Bektenov underscored the need for the full implementation of the EAEU’s integrated information system, which would enable the seamless interstate exchange of data and electronic documents. This system is expected to enhance transparency, efficiency, and cooperation among the union’s members.

“The integrated information system is critical to ensuring that we can exchange vital data and documents across borders in real-time, strengthening the economic and logistical ties that bind our union,” Bektenov remarked.

In addition to the plenary discussions, closed-door and extended format meetings were held to review joint measures aimed at further enhancing collaboration in areas such as trade, transport, logistics, and the agro-industrial complex. The leaders of the EAEU states reaffirmed their commitment to boosting economic integration through digitalization and other collaborative efforts, recognizing that these initiatives are vital to the union’s competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global economy.

The discussions and outcomes of the meeting mark another step forward in the EAEU’s collective efforts to embrace digital technologies and promote deeper economic integration, benefiting the member states in key sectors.
