Putin Expresses Gratitude to Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev
Astana, The Gulf Observer: Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his state visit to Kazakhstan, highlighting the strong and dynamic relations between the two countries.
In a statement, President Putin thanked Tokayev for the warm and solemn reception, acknowledging the regular and constructive meetings between the two leaders. “We meet regularly and are familiar with the working environment. Such a solemn environment is unusual. I really appreciate it,” Putin remarked, emphasizing the friendly and business-focused nature of their relations.
Putin also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation, expressing his anticipation for upcoming informal meetings with Tokayev, including the pre-New Year gathering of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg. The Russian leader also invited Tokayev to participate in the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, calling it a “common victory” for both nations.
In the course of the visit, Putin noted that a number of significant documents were set to be signed, marking further progress in the bilateral relationship. “These documents include joint statements as well as a whole package of agreements in various sectors,” he added.
The two leaders discussed expanding cooperation in a wide range of areas, including industrial collaboration, energy, oil and gas, transit of energy resources, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, finance, ecology, water policy, education, science, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
Putin reaffirmed Russia’s position as one of Kazakhstan’s major trade and economic partners, noting that trade turnover between the two countries reached $28.5 billion last year and continues to grow. He also highlighted that Russian investments in Kazakhstan’s economy have accumulated to $13 billion.
