Qatar Chairs Meeting with GCC Representatives and UN Officials

New York, The Gulf Observer: In her capacity as President of the 44th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Her Excellency Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations (UN), convened a significant meeting with the permanent representatives of GCC states to the UN. The meeting, held at the headquarters of the permanent delegation in New York, included UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, His Excellency Gilles Michaud.

During the meeting, Under-Secretary-General Michaud praised the strong relationship between the GCC states and the UN. He highlighted the critical importance of ensuring the safety and security of UN staff in the Gaza Strip, enabling them to effectively carry out their missions amidst challenging conditions.

Her Excellency Sheikha Alya reaffirmed the GCC states’ commitment to robust cooperation with the UN Department for Safety and Security. She emphasized the readiness of the GCC to support the UN in responding to the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, ensuring that aid and support reach those in need.

This meeting underscores the collaborative efforts between the GCC states and the UN, reinforcing their shared commitment to addressing global security challenges and humanitarian crises.
