Qatar Participates in High-Level Ministerial Talks on Gaza Ceasefire and Humanitarian Crisis

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, participated in the ministerial committee meeting assigned by the joint Arab-Islamic extraordinary summit on the developments in the Gaza Strip. The meeting convened in Cairo on Sunday and included discussions with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Her Excellency Kaja Kallas.

The meeting saw the participation of key regional and international figures, including Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Mustafa; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Excellency Dr. Ayman Al Safadi; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdel Aati; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, His Excellency Hakan Fidan; Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar; Secretary-General of the Arab League, His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit; and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Hissein Brahim Taha. Representatives from the Republic of Indonesia and the Federal Republic of Nigeria were also in attendance.

The discussions centered on efforts to restore the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip following the resumption of hostilities by Israeli occupation forces. The committee emphasized the urgent need to facilitate the unhindered and sustainable flow of humanitarian aid to address the worsening crisis, particularly in light of the Israeli decision to block aid entry after the first phase of the ceasefire agreement expired.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the severe impact of the Israeli occupation’s decision to cut off electricity in the Gaza Strip, as well as the escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint international efforts to implement the two-state solution, with the aim of establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s ongoing mediation efforts to end the conflict in Gaza. He strongly condemned the indiscriminate bombardment of civilians and civilian infrastructure by Israeli forces, stressing the necessity of unified regional and global action to pressure Israel into fully implementing the ceasefire agreement in all its phases. He further underscored the critical need to bring an end to the war and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting concluded with a collective call for immediate and effective measures to protect Palestinian civilians and ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
