Qatar Recognized as "Model" Country in Global Cybersecurity Index 2024

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The National Cybersecurity Agency (NCSA) has announced that Qatar has achieved a significant milestone in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2024, securing its place as a “model” country at the international level in the field of cybersecurity. The index, issued on September 13 by the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union (ITU), highlights Qatar’s exemplary performance across all key pillars of cybersecurity.

Qatar earned full scores in the five main pillars of cybersecurity obligations: legal, technical, regulatory, capacity development, and cooperation. This recognition underscores the nation’s strong commitment to fostering a secure digital environment both domestically and internationally, while positioning Qatar as a leader in developing and implementing effective cybersecurity strategies.

The NCSA emphasized that Qatar’s classification as a “model” country reflects its ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity and its dedication to confronting the rising challenges of cyber threats globally. The country’s proactive approach to cybersecurity has resulted in significant advancements that ensure the protection of its digital infrastructure.

The Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 evaluates the cybersecurity commitments of nations and their progress, providing an analysis that offers insights into the tangible impacts of their cybersecurity efforts. In this year’s report, 46 countries were placed in Tier 1, the highest of five levels, reserved for “model” countries that demonstrate exceptional commitment to all five pillars of cybersecurity.

Qatar’s success in this ranking highlights the importance of its continuous efforts to strengthen cybersecurity at both the national and international levels, and its dedication to fostering global cooperation in addressing cyber threats.
