Qatari Security Forces Arrive in Paris to Secure 2024 Olympic Games

Paris, The Gulf Observer: Two weeks before the Olympic Games commence in Paris, the Qatari security forces arrived in the French capital today, July 12, to participate in securing the Paris 2024 Olympics (July 26-August 11) and the Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8).

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, and Brigadier General Nawaf Majid Al Ali, Commander of the Qatari Security Forces for the Paris 2024 Olympics, led the welcoming delegation at the airport. They were accompanied by senior French security officials, including Major General Emmanuel Melkernia, Assistant Director General of the Directorate of International Security Cooperation at the French Ministry of the Interior; Major General Jean-Valery Letterman, Head of the Directorate of Public Relations and Liaison at the French National Gendarmerie; Lieutenant Colonel François Bremand, 2024 Olympic Games Operations Officer at the French National Gendarmerie; and Major Abdul Rahman Al Tamimi, Security Attaché for Internal Security Force Affairs at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the French Republic.

Brigadier General Nawaf Majid Al Ali highlighted that the participation of the Qatari forces underscores the robust relationship between Qatar and France, particularly in the field of security. He referenced the statement by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), emphasizing that the tasks of this force are an extension of their security duties in Qatar. The force is determined to execute its responsibilities with efficiency and professionalism, leveraging Qatar’s security expertise, which is now recognized as a reference for major international events.

This participation reflects the strength of the strategic partnership between Qatar and France, particularly in security, and follows the administrative agreement on security cooperation signed between the two countries last February.
