Romanian Ambassador Discusses Strengthening Trade and Investment Cooperation with KCCI

Karachi, The Gulf Observer: The Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, H.E. Dan Stoenescu, met with the leadership of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) — one of Pakistan’s most dynamic business institutions — to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation between Romania and Pakistan, with a particular focus on Sindh and Karachi as the country’s main industrial and financial hub.
During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two countries. The agenda included exploring practical mechanisms to boost bilateral trade, foster business-to-business linkages, and encourage Romanian investments in Pakistan. Opportunities for joint ventures, technology transfer, and trade diversification were also highlighted as key areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador Stoenescu presented Romania as a reliable business partner within the European Union, emphasizing its stable investment climate, skilled workforce, and strategic location at the crossroads of Europe. He noted that Romania aims for balanced and mutually beneficial cooperation with Pakistan, focusing on value-added exports, industrial collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
Both sides agreed that the current bilateral trade volume — estimated at around USD 250 million annually — does not reflect the true potential of economic cooperation. They expressed determination to double this figure within the next three years through sustained engagement and sectoral collaboration.
The discussions also touched upon future initiatives, including potential partnerships between KCCI and Romanian Chambers of Commerce, plans for organizing a Romanian Trade & Investment Fair in Karachi in 2026, and enhanced cooperation in priority sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, information technology, textiles, and manufacturing.
Ambassador Stoenescu emphasized that Romania’s expertise in renewable energy, construction materials, agricultural machinery, and engineering complements Pakistan’s strengths in textiles, leather, pharmaceuticals, and IT — creating a strong foundation for future joint ventures and technological cooperation.
He reaffirmed that the Embassy of Romania remains fully committed to promoting business connectivity through trade missions, virtual matchmaking, and continuous dialogue between the private sectors of both countries.
“The partnership between Romania and Pakistan has great potential to evolve into a strategic economic relationship built on trust, innovation, and mutual growth,” Ambassador Stoenescu stated.
