Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), will launch a direct air service between Casablanca and Essaouira from November 1, 2026, in a move aimed at improving domestic connectivity and supporting tourism and economic development in the country.

The new route will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, under an agreement signed between Royal Air Maroc and the Marrakech-Safi region. Return fares will start at 800 Moroccan dirhams in economy class.

Under the announced schedule, Wednesday flights will depart Casablanca at 4:00 p.m. and arrive in Essaouira at 5:20 p.m. The return service will leave Essaouira at 6:00 p.m. and reach Casablanca at 7:20 p.m.

On Sundays, flights will depart Casablanca at 8:20 a.m., arriving in Essaouira at 9:40 a.m. The return flight will leave Essaouira at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Casablanca at 11:40 a.m.

The new connection will link Essaouira directly with Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc’s main hub, providing travellers with access to the airline’s network of 86 international destinations. The service is expected to facilitate travel for tourists, families and business travellers while strengthening links between Morocco’s regions.

Royal Air Maroc Chief Executive Officer Hamid Addou said the route aligned with the airline’s mission to promote Moroccan tourism internationally and improve mobility within the country. He also highlighted the importance of connecting regions and responding to the needs of travellers.

Essaouira is a prominent coastal destination known for its historical, cultural and natural attractions. Its medina has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, while the city also hosts the internationally recognised Gnaoua World Music Festival.

The new service is expected to improve access to the city and support the development of local tourism and economic activities. It will also expand Royal Air Maroc’s domestic network to 28 routes, further strengthening air connectivity within Morocco.

The airline’s tickets are available through its official website, call centres, sales offices and partner travel agencies.
