Saudi Arabia Participates in G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Italy
Ancona, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia actively participated in a high-level meeting of health ministers in Ancona, Italy, this week, addressing key global health priorities at the invitation of the Group of Seven (G7) nations. The discussions focused on critical issues such as antimicrobial resistance, the intersection of health and climate change, and strategies for prolonging human life. These topics were aimed at enhancing international efforts to tackle some of the world’s most pressing health challenges, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
Representing the Saudi delegation, Rakan bin Khalid bin Duhaish, Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation, underscored the need for urgent action against antimicrobial resistance. He called for increased international collaboration to combat this growing threat to global health. In his remarks, Duhaish also announced that Saudi Arabia would host the fourth high-level ministerial conference on antimicrobial resistance in Jeddah on November 15 and 16, further cementing the Kingdom’s leadership in addressing this global health issue.
In addition to antimicrobial resistance, Duhaish emphasized the profound impact of climate change on public health, stressing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening health systems in collaboration with global partners to build resilience against climate-related health threats.
