Saudi Cabinet Reaffirms Support for Syria and Lebanon, Approves Key International Agreements

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Saudi Council of Ministers reaffirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Syria and Lebanon and their peoples during its Tuesday session, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The Cabinet pledged continued backing for efforts to restore the two countries’ rightful status within the Arab and international communities.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary emphasized the Cabinet’s position following discussions on the recent visits of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan to Lebanon and Syria.

During the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on his phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. These talks focused on enhancing relations between Saudi Arabia, the U.S., and Italy across various sectors and discussed regional and international developments.

The Cabinet expressed hope that the establishment of the Saudi-Italian Strategic Partnership Council would strengthen communication and cooperation between the two countries, advancing mutual interests.

The Cabinet also commended the Saudi delegation’s participation in the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. It underscored the Kingdom’s ongoing progress toward achieving the goals of Vision 2030 and its contributions to reshaping the global economic landscape.

Further emphasizing Saudi Arabia’s leadership role, the Cabinet endorsed the announcement that the Kingdom would host the World Economic Forum’s global meeting on a regular basis, solidifying its position as a hub for international dialogue and development.

In addition, the Cabinet approved new regulations for government agencies to purchase and rent vehicles, and endorsed a national plan to combat marine pollution in emergency situations involving oil and other harmful substances.

Several international agreements were approved, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Philippines in the field of energy, and agreements with China and North Macedonia for cooperation on driving licenses and general collaboration, respectively.

The Cabinet also approved a series of MoUs in diverse sectors, including sports cooperation with Bahrain, cybersecurity with Djibouti, and partnerships in small and medium enterprises, intellectual property, and the Arabic language with Pakistan, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan.

These decisions reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and advancing its strategic partnerships on the global stage.
