New Terminal Complex Set to Be Built at Heydar Aliyev International Airport

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Heydar Aliyev International Airport recorded a historic milestone last year by serving over seven million passengers, marking a significant increase in air traffic. The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has projected continued passenger growth, prompting plans for a new terminal complex at the airport.
President Ilham Aliyev, speaking at a meeting focused on transportation issues, confirmed his support for the initiative. “Heydar Aliyev International Airport served a record number of passengers last year, exceeding seven million. Analysis conducted by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport indicates that this number will continue to grow, and it was proposed to build a new terminal complex at the airport. I have also provided my support for this initiative,” he stated.
The president further noted that work on the project and feasibility study for the new terminal is already underway. “The project and feasibility study for the new terminal complex are now being developed. Work on this has already begun, and it will enable us to accommodate future passenger numbers. In other words, we will become an international hub for air transport,” he added.
The expansion project is expected to bolster Azerbaijan’s position as a key transit hub, enhancing its aviation infrastructure and economic connectivity on a global scale.
