Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Senator Danesh Kumar emphasized on Friday that minorities in Pakistan enjoy fundamental freedoms and equal human rights without discrimination. Speaking in the upper house during Diwali celebrations, he noted the importance of the festival for the Hindu community in Pakistan.

Senator Kumar expressed appreciation for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s celebrations of Diwali in the province, praising her efforts to connect with the Hindu minority. “Though I am not a member of her party, the way she won the hearts of the Hindu minority has made her my leader,” he remarked.

He also voiced disappointment over the lack of similar celebrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging the provincial government to engage with minorities and mark such occasions to foster unity.

Senator Kumar reaffirmed his commitment to Pakistan, describing it as his birthplace and a land he and the minority communities are devoted to. “We are prepared to sacrifice our lives for this holy land,” he said.

Senator Nadeem Bhutto also extended Diwali greetings to the Hindu community, acknowledging the festival as a significant cultural celebration in Pakistan’s diverse society.
