Sharjah International Summit on Improvement in Education Commences with Emphasis on “Pioneering Future Education”
Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: The third edition of the Sharjah International Summit on Improvement in Education commenced today under the theme “Pioneering Future Education” at the Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) campus. The summit, held under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, brings together key stakeholders in education to explore innovative approaches and discuss the evolving dynamics of educational systems.
Organized by the Sharjah Education Academy in collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, the summit focuses on four crucial pillars. These include the dynamics of successful educational systems, the foresight of AI’s influence on future education, methods of evaluation and innovation in the age of technology, and the enhancement of the quality of life in the educational environment.
Dr. Muhadithah Al Hashemi, President of the Sharjah Education Academy and Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, delivered the welcoming remarks. She shared insights into the transformative journey of private schools in Sharjah, citing the evaluation results from 2018 to 2023. Dr. Al Hashemi emphasized the groundbreaking improvements witnessed in Sharjah’s private education sector, attributing the progress to the visionary directives of the Ruler of Sharjah.
Dr. Al Hashemi outlined the five scientific pillars forming the basis of Sharjah’s approach to education development. These include government support, a culture of continuous improvement, governance, building abilities, and partnering with the community. She highlighted the remarkable achievements resulting from the ‘Itqan’ program, showcasing a 70 percent improvement in private schools compared to the 2018 evaluation.
Key accomplishments noted by Dr. Al Hashemi include a significant boost in the quality of education, with a notable improvement in the Arabic language subject for native speakers. The percentage of students excelling in this subject increased from 4 percent to 59 percent. Furthermore, the satisfaction level of parents regarding the quality of teaching and learning reached an impressive 84 percent.
Dr. Al Hashemi expressed that the confidence index among parents in Sharjah has soared to 90 percent regarding the quality of education. She announced the launch of the “Rise for the Teacher” initiative, a community-driven effort aimed at supporting and appreciating teachers to positively impact their quality of life, growth, and professional development.
The two-day summit gathers educators, decision-makers, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the latest research and successful journeys in school improvements, with a focus on the transformative influence of education technology, particularly artificial intelligence. With over 60 speakers from 17 countries, the summit aims to share research-based best practices and insights for an implementable comprehensive educational framework.
