University of Sharjah and American University of Sharjah Forge Strategic Collaboration with MOU Signing

Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: In a momentous occasion, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), joined Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), in witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two prestigious educational institutions. The ceremony, held at the American University of Sharjah, solidifies a cooperative framework aimed at fostering joint initiatives and enhancing collaboration.
Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah, formalized the partnership by signing the MoU. The agreement signifies a commitment to mutual cooperation, opening avenues for joint academic endeavors, exchange programs, and research initiatives.
As outlined in the MoU, the universities will collaborate on exchange programs for both students and faculty members, fostering a cross-pollination of ideas and enhancing research options. The agreement facilitates the seamless transfer of students between the institutions at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.
Joint academic endeavors, including cooperative supervision of graduate students, joint research activities, and the establishment of dual academy programs and short-term specialized courses, are integral components of the collaboration. The agreement also encourages joint efforts in research projects, grant applications, e-learning, consultation, curriculum development, and vocational training.
To ensure effective implementation of the MoU’s provisions, a steering committee will be formed to plan and supervise the collaborative process. Additionally, a joint institution will be established to support the financing of any joint scientific activities between the two universities.
The partnership underscores the commitment of both the University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah to promote academic excellence, research innovation, and cultural understanding. The collaboration aims to create a robust academic environment, facilitating the exchange of resources, institutional data, and strategic standards to enhance the quality and abundance of educational resources for both institutions.
