Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets with Tony Blair, Executive Chairman of the Institute for Global Change

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with Tony Blair, Executive Chairman of the Institute for Global Change and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, to discuss potential avenues for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Institute. The meeting underscored the growing ties between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom, focusing on collaborative opportunities aimed at supporting Uzbekistan’s transformative reform agenda.

During the discussions, Blair commended President Mirziyoyev’s comprehensive reform program, which aims to foster sustainable development across New Uzbekistan. Recognizing the ambitious and irreversible nature of these reforms, Blair expressed strong interest in providing expert guidance and strategic advisory support through his Institute for Global Change.

Key priorities were identified for this partnership, including the development of international transport corridors, expansion into new markets, facilitation of international payment systems, and improvements to Uzbekistan’s investment policy framework. These initiatives aim to bolster Uzbekistan’s global connectivity, economic integration, and attractiveness to foreign investors.

To ensure progress on these objectives, the parties agreed to establish a series of expert-level meetings involving relevant agencies from both sides. These consultations will focus on specifying areas of cooperation and developing actionable steps to enhance Uzbekistan’s reform processes with support from the Institute for Global Change.
