South Africa to Continue Genocide Case Against Israel at ICJ

Pretoria, The Gulf Observer: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will continue to hear the genocide case brought against Israel by South Africa, with the South African presidency announcing that a memorial will be filed next month. The statement underscores South Africa’s commitment to providing evidence to substantiate its claims that Israel is committing genocide in Palestine.

“South Africa intends to present facts and evidence to demonstrate that Israel is perpetrating the crime of genocide in Palestine,” the presidency declared. “This case will proceed until the court delivers a verdict. During the ongoing proceedings, we expect Israel to comply with the court’s provisional orders issued thus far.”

The announcement follows reports that Israeli diplomats are reportedly lobbying members of the U.S. Congress to exert pressure on South Africa to withdraw the case.

South Africa emphasized that its action reflects a broader international effort to address and resolve the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The case, which commenced public hearings in January, has garnered support from several countries including Türkiye, Nicaragua, Palestine, Spain, Mexico, Libya, and Colombia.

The continuation of this case highlights the growing global resolve to seek justice and ensure peace in the region.
