Sultan of Oman and King Abdullah II Hold Expanded Talks in Amman

Amman, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman and King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan conducted an expanded session of talks at Basman Palace in Amman on Wednesday. This high-level meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address pressing regional issues.

At the start of the session, King Abdullah II extended a warm welcome to Sultan Haitham, acknowledging him as an esteemed guest of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He expressed his hope for a pleasant stay for the Sultan and his accompanying delegation. In response, Sultan Haitham conveyed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the hospitality shown by the Jordanian monarch.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Oman and Jordan across various sectors to serve mutual interests. The leaders emphasized the importance of their fraternal ties and the historical relationship binding their nations.

In addition to bilateral matters, the two monarchs exchanged views on significant regional and international issues, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. They stressed the urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the protection of civilians, and the intensification of efforts to deliver sufficient humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip.

Before the expanded session, Sultan Haitham and King Abdullah II held a private meeting to discuss critical issues in greater depth.

The Omani delegation included prominent figures such as HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdussalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority; and Sheikh Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Ojaili, Ambassador of Oman to Jordan.

The Jordanian delegation comprised Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, head of the mission of honour accompanying Sultan Haitham; Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan; Yousef Issawi, Chief of the Royal Court; Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates; Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, Chief of the General Intelligence Department; Jaafar Hassan, Director of the King’s Office; Kholoud Saqqaf, Minister of Investment; Amjad Quhaiwi, Ambassador of Jordan to Oman; and other senior Jordanian officials.

This meeting reinforces the strong and enduring relationship between Oman and Jordan, setting a collaborative tone for addressing both bilateral and broader regional challenges.
