Tajikistan and South Korea Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Industrial Cooperation

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding industrial cooperation and developing joint projects across a range of priority sectors.

The agreement was signed in Seoul on the sidelines of the inaugural meeting of the Consultative Mechanism of Ministers of Industry in the “C5+1” format, according to Tajikistan’s Ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

The memorandum provides for the development of joint projects in light industry, textiles, mining, chemicals and machinery, as well as artificial intelligence and new technologies. It is also aimed at promoting the exchange of expertise, introducing innovative technologies, establishing joint ventures and strengthening direct links between industrial enterprises of the two countries.

During a meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources Kim Jong-kwan, the sides discussed bilateral cooperation in mining, the economy, investment, industrial development, and the application of advanced technologies in production and mineral extraction.

Meanwhile, following the first meeting of the Consultative Mechanism of Ministers of Industry in the “C5+1” format, representatives of South Korea, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in industry and supply chains.

The document envisages cooperation in developing industrial infrastructure, expanding trade and investment, advancing collaboration in critical minerals, introducing smart manufacturing technologies and artificial intelligence, and strengthening the training of technical specialists and engineers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Sherali Kabir invited his South Korean counterpart to participate in the third International Forum on Mining and Metallurgical Industry of Tajikistan, scheduled to be held in Dushanbe in November.
