Tajikistan, IFAD and UN-Water Discuss Preparations for 2028 UN Water Conference
Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: On September 24, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Chair of UN-Water.
During the meeting, Minister Muhriddin emphasized Tajikistan’s sustained cooperation and partnership with IFAD and UN-Water. He reaffirmed the country’s readiness to advance preparations for the 2028 United Nations Water Conference, to be held in Dushanbe, particularly following the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution on the modalities of the conference.
The sides agreed to continue close cooperation in priority areas within the respective mandates of IFAD and UN-Water, including strengthening global cooperation on water, supporting rural resilience and promoting sustainable development.
