Tô Lâm Reaffirms Unwavering Resolve to Intensify Anti-Corruption Drive in New Era

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has reaffirmed the Party’s firm determination to combat corruption, wastefulness, and negative phenomena with renewed thinking and innovative approaches in the new era.
Speaking on Monday at a working session with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs and relevant agencies, the Party chief stressed the need to strengthen the Party’s leadership in anti-corruption and anti-wastefulness efforts.
The session reviewed a draft project assessing the 20-year implementation of the resolution adopted at the third plenum of the 10th Party Central Committee on anti-corruption. The project is scheduled to be submitted to the Party Central Committee for consideration and the issuance of a new resolution addressing corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices in the coming period.
Lâm described the fight against corruption and related misconduct as an especially important, regular, and long-term task in the building and rectification of the Party and political system. He commended the Commission for Internal Affairs for its thorough and serious preparation of the review project in close coordination with relevant agencies.
He urged the commission to urgently finalise the document to ensure the highest quality before submitting it to the Politburo and the Party Central Committee for deliberation and decision.
Reiterating that the prevention and resolute handling of corruption and wastefulness remain consistent and overarching policies of the Party and State, the General Secretary said the forthcoming resolution at the second plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee underscores the Party’s special attention to the issue.
He noted that the intensified campaign against what he termed “internal enemies” would be carried out with new thinking and approaches in the coming period.
Lâm emphasised that violations must be handled strictly, humanely, and convincingly, with no forbidden zones and no exceptions.
He further stressed that anti-corruption and anti-wastefulness efforts must go hand in hand with socio-economic development objectives, particularly the goal of sustaining double-digit economic growth in the years ahead.
Highlighting the importance of transparency and legal certainty, the Party chief underlined the need to create a clear and safe legal environment to enable citizens and businesses to invest and operate with confidence.
