Trump Claims to Have "Guaranteed" Plan to End Ukraine War

Washington, The Gulf Observer: Former U.S. President and current Republican nominee Donald Trump has asserted that he possesses a “guaranteed” plan to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, but stated that he will only reveal the details if he wins the U.S. presidential election in November. Trump, who is currently in a close race with Democratic rival Vice President Kamala Harris, made the remarks during an interview on the Lex Fridman podcast released on Tuesday.

“If I win, as president-elect, I’ll have a deal made, guaranteed. That’s a war that shouldn’t have happened,” Trump declared, emphasizing his confidence in his ability to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. He further elaborated that he has a “very exacting plan” for the situation in Ukraine and Russia, as well as an “idea” regarding China. However, he withheld specifics, explaining, “I can’t give you those plans, because if I give you those plans, I’m not going to be able to use them; they’ll be very unsuccessful. You know, part of it’s surprise, right?”

Trump’s comments mirror actions taken by his supporters in Congress earlier this year, when they blocked a bipartisan immigration proposal reportedly to prevent the Biden-Harris administration from gaining credit on a key election issue. Trump has made similar claims in the past, asserting multiple times that he could end the Ukraine war in just one day.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has responded to Trump’s claims by urging caution in interpreting pre-election rhetoric, emphasizing the distinction between campaign statements and official policy positions. The ministry commented, “If we talk about whether it’s possible to resolve the conflict, let’s be realistic.”

Echoing this sentiment, Russia’s UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia previously remarked that “the Ukrainian crisis cannot be solved in one day.”

Trump has previously faced criticism for his favorable remarks about Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the podcast, he warned that the Ukraine crisis could escalate into “a third world war,” attributing the growing tensions in several global hotspots to what he described as a lack of leadership from the United States.
