Türkiye Marks 42nd Anniversary of TRNC’s Founding, Reaffirms Support for Turkish Cypriot Cause

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Saturday commemorated the 42nd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), highlighting the historic struggle and enduring resilience of the Turkish Cypriot community.
In a message shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, the ministry stated: “The most valuable manifestation of the sovereignty and existence struggle that Turkish Cypriots have waged since 1963, and the most important symbol of our national cause, is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We celebrate the 42nd anniversary of its founding.”
Reaffirming Türkiye’s steadfast commitment, the ministry underscored that “motherland and guarantor Türkiye will always continue to stand by the Turkish Cypriot people” and will pursue “constructive and determined efforts toward a just, lasting, and sustainable settlement of the Cyprus issue based on the realities on the island.”
The statement expressed shared pride with the Turkish Cypriot community on this “honorable day,” describing them as an inseparable part of the Great Turkish Nation.
Paying tribute to the legacy of key figures in the Turkish Cypriot struggle for sovereignty and freedom, the ministry honored the late Fazıl Küçük, a pioneering leader, and Rauf Raif Denktaş, the founding president of the TRNC. It also commemorated the soldiers and fighters who sacrificed their lives for the cause and voiced deep appreciation for the veterans who played a vital role in the community’s long-standing quest for self-determination.
