Türkiye to Join Genocide Case Against Israel at International Court of Justice
Cairo, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye will file to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, as announced by the country’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan. The announcement was made on Monday during a news conference alongside his Egyptian counterpart in Cairo.
“We will submit our prepared file to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice at The Hague on Wednesday,” Fidan stated.
Fidan criticized the international community for its selective condemnation, drawing a parallel between the global response to the Russia-Ukraine war and what he described as a lack of action against Israel’s ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories. He condemned last week’s killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, labeling it a “treacherous assassination.”
The Turkish foreign minister also called on international actors to restrain Israel, warning of the broader regional implications of its actions. He cited recent attacks in Lebanon and Iran as provocations that could escalate the conflict further.
“Ankara and Cairo have made every effort to prevent the spread of war in the region,” Fidan emphasized, highlighting the cooperative efforts between Türkiye and Egypt in seeking stability.
Fidan’s announcement came during his two-day visit to Egypt, underscoring the strengthening ties and collaborative stance between the two nations on regional issues.
