Turkmenistan and Iran Reaffirm Commitment to Dialogue and Regional Stability

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a high-level meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi in Ashgabat on June 23, 2025, to review the current status and future prospects of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.

The talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging views on pressing international developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, security, and mutual respect in regional and global affairs.

The Turkmen delegation reiterated its principled stance on the peaceful settlement of international disputes and expressed Turkmenistan’s readiness to support efforts aimed at resolving the Middle East crisis through inclusive dialogue involving all concerned parties. Minister Meredov underscored the country’s commitment to fostering lasting peace and stability through diplomatic engagement.

In response, Minister Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to a constructive and forward-looking partnership with Turkmenistan, grounded in mutual respect and the principles of good neighborliness. He expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people for their solidarity and timely humanitarian assistance during recent regional challenges.

Both parties stressed the shared view that all crises should be addressed through political and diplomatic means in full compliance with the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international law.

Foreign Minister Araghchi also conveyed appreciation to the leadership and people of Turkmenistan, describing them as a “brotherly nation,” and expressed Iran’s willingness to further strengthen its political dialogue and cooperative ties with Ashgabat.

The meeting highlighted the two countries’ mutual interest in maintaining regional peace and fostering international cooperation based on dialogue, respect, and legal norms.
