Turkmenistan and Qatar Hold Third Intergovernmental Commission Meeting in Doha

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The third meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Doha on November 26–27, bringing together senior officials and representatives from government institutions and business communities of both countries.

The session was co-chaired by Turkmenistan’s Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, Nazar Agahanov, and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed.

Prior to the official meeting, the two ministers held a bilateral discussion, during which they reviewed the current state of Turkmen-Qatari relations and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors, with particular emphasis on trade and economic partnerships.

The agenda of the plenary session covered a broad range of issues related to political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. The two sides highlighted the significant role played by the Intergovernmental Commission in advancing earlier agreements and facilitating mutually beneficial initiatives.

Delegations from both countries conducted an in-depth review of bilateral collaboration in areas including trade and economy, culture and humanitarian affairs, transport and logistics, oil and gas, industry, agriculture, water management, investments, and the banking sector. They also evaluated progress made in fulfilling the commitments outlined during the previous meeting of the Commission.

Discussions further extended to prospective cooperation in science and education, culture, healthcare, sports, tourism, and environmental protection. Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining regular consultations and high-level exchanges to sustain the momentum of joint initiatives.

Participants expressed confidence that the new understandings reached during the meeting would contribute to the continued strengthening of the friendly and constructive dialogue between Turkmenistan and Qatar, serving the interests of both states and their peoples.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Protocol of the Third Meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was officially signed.
